Identify Alcohol Allergy - Alcohol allergy is possible but not typical. Normally the reaction for alcohol consumption by ingredients such as sulfites, malt and other additives such as yeast causes. According to the Mayo Clinic, allergies occur when the immune system something you consume identified as hazardous, then work the body to get rid of it. The body already produces some alcohols, and this is just one reason alcohol allergies are rare. Sulfites, chemicals found in wine and a couple of beers, have been known to trigger asthmatic reactions in humans. Nausea, rashes, bloating, diarrhea and vomiting are other signs that you are allergic to something in your drink. Most of the time the alcohol allergy is intolerance alcohol, which means that there are the effects of alcohol on your body is extremely sensitive, and could experience dehydration, nausea or headaches. If you are allergic to alcohol itself, you can use many of these symptoms, and should immediately seek medical attention.


How to Identify Alcohol Allergy


If after having drink, you break out in itchy rash or you have swollen skin, you may be allergic. skin is your body's largest organ and one way that immune system pushes foreigners out. Often, hives happen when your body processes alcohol and produces overabundance of chemicals to break down alcohol. Sometimes breaking out in hives or swelling after drink is signal of another illness that is being exacerbated by alcohol. Also, some alcoholic beverages contain histamines, which are produced from yeast and bacteria during fermentation process. Histamine is same chemical released by cells during allergic reaction. Itchy hives can be caused by excess amount of histamine in body, too.


Notice if you start wheezing or coughing lot. Troubles with your respiratory system are often due to chemicals called sulfites, which naturally occur in wine and are sometimes added as preservative to other alcoholic beverages and foods. Sulfites are known to trigger asthmatic reactions.


See if you experience nausea, abdominal pains or vomiting. Naturally, this is sign you are drinking more than your body can process. But these reactions can also tip you off to another more serious ailment. If you have one drink and experience these symptoms, this could be sign of allergy or something more serious.


Assess if you are feeling lightheaded and have rapid heartbeat. These are other symptoms of allergic reaction or intolerance to alcohol. If you experience this, sit down, rest and drink some water. Seek medical help if symptoms continue, or if you feel like passing out. These symptoms are also sign that you've had way too much so stop drinking.


Be aware if you experience severe pain after drinking alcohol. This is sign of something underlying, such as Hodgkin's disease. If you experience this or other unusual symptoms, see doctor.
